How does the 72 hour waiting period work?
-
According to Illinois legislation, the 72 hour waiting period begins when the buyer and seller reach an agreement to purchase a firearm. For online sales, this means the 72 hour clock starts when you make your purchase. In most instances, by the time we receive your order, the 72 hours will have already passed. Does this mean I can take my firearm home after my first visit?
-
Perhaps. The other factor to consider is the background check. The background check process is instant, however, often background checks are delayed for various reasons. This does not mean the background check has been denied, it simply means that additional time is needed to verify information.
-
-
My background check is delayed, what now?
-
We check delayed background checks daily. Once your background check is approved, we will contact you in order to schedule a second appointment.
